As the microenterprise field attempts to grow and develop new products and services, adapting existing technologies and developing new ones will be vital to success. The U.S. microenterprise field must harness the nation's advanced technological infrastructure and know-how to streamline operations and effectively target clients. Programs will need to adopt and strategically integrate new technologies in ways that provide maximum benefit.

FIELD's work on the use of technology in the microenterprise field includes:

  • Compiling a set of resources that provide useful information and best practices for organizations seeking to explore new technology options or to integrate existing technology more fully into their programs;
  • Overseeing a Management Information System project beginning in 2000 to increase the capacity of practitioners to generate key data on program performance and client outcomes to support both better program management and stronger accountability to donors.
